The Seed Troupe 種子劇團
The Seed Troupe offers workshops that take place over a few months in which participants explore the story of their lives and design a personal “mini-play” with other participants, and witnessed by audience. The Seed Troupe is led by Ya-Huei Chi (紀雅卉) , a psychotherapist and drama therapist.
The Seed Troupe is based on the “self-revelatory performance” concept developed by Renée Emunah, the director of the Drama Therapy program at California Institute of Integral Studies, called by some the mother of drama therapy.

What is Self-Revelatory Performance 自我啟示表演
A self-revelatory performance (or “self-rev” for short) is a mini-play developed by the individual that is the story of that person’s journey of self-discovery. It is a type of theatrical and therapeutic production in which ordinary people create and perform their stories and positively transforming their challenges. People who participate in the self-revelatory process do not need to have any acting experience or theater background of any kind.
In the Seed Troupe experience, participants will work together over a few months to learn about the self-revelatory method, share personal stories with each other, and collaborate together on the development of a mini-play authored by each participant about their own personal journey. YaHuei Chi facilitates this interesting and rich process of collective self-discovery through exercises and feedback. The end result is a theatrical performance for friends, family and community in which each participant performs their own play with the support of other workshop participants.
During the rehearsal phase, participants take on a life journey to know more about themselves. Through active and reflective processes by improvisation, embodied storytelling, free writing and art work, participants explore, develop and deepen insight and awareness about themselves, and aim for transcendence from the experience. Participants are invited to examine their experience through the eyes of an actor as well as a director, and from both inside and outside the life.
